Kindergarten Academics
Haykazunyadz Kindergarten students are encouraged to be independent, thoughtful learners who enjoy learning and taking part in the classroom. We focus on respect, love and kindness while keeping clear expectations for behavior and manners.
Kindergarten is a year filled with curiosity and growth for all students. Our curriculum supports different learning styles so every student feels engaged and challenged. With hands-on activities and dedicated teachers, children begin building the academic and social skills they will need in elementary school.
Students develop early reading skills, number sense, fine motor skills and problem-solving through a mix of structured lessons and playful exploration. Each day balances routine with discovery, helping students build a real interest in learning.
STEM is part of our curriculum through hands-on experiments and creative building.
As part of the Haykazunyadz curriculum, Kindergarten students have Armenian lessons each week. They begin learning the Armenian alphabet and take early steps in reading, writing and speaking Armenian. These lessons help them connect with their heritage and build basic language skills.
Kindergarten is a time when children gain confidence, grow more independent and feel comfortable in a classroom setting. Our goal is for every student to finish the year ready for the academic and social expectations of elementary school.
Academics
Kindergarten covers early ELA, math, science and social studies, all aligned with the California Common Core Standards. Students are also introduced to basic STEAM concepts through simple projects and hands-on activities that encourage curiosity and problem-solving.
Activities & Events
Kindergarten includes special classroom events, seasonal projects and weekly enrichment like art, music, dance, Armenian and sports. These activities make learning fun and help students feel connected and excited about school.
Classroom Life
Kindergarten helps children feel comfortable in the classroom and learn how to be part of a group. Students follow simple routines, work with classmates and take on small responsibilities. They grow in the way they communicate, share and solve problems, building the habits they need for elementary school.
Student Life at Haykazunyadz
Student life at Haykazunyadz is built on connection, joy, and growth. From Preschool through Elementary, children share the same spirit of learning and community. The experiences begin in our early classrooms and expand each year as students grow in age, ability, and independence.
Our programs stay consistent in heart and purpose. Children pray together, celebrate together, and learn through the same hands-on, faith-based approach that defines Haykazunyadz. As they move into new grade levels, new activities, field trips, and enrichment programs are added to keep learning exciting and meaningful.
